All museums tell stories about people. Our museum tells stories about people before there were humans. From the time that the Earth almost froze solid, to the time Sheffield was at the equator covered by a worldwide forest, to the time we were under an ocean patrolled by sea monsters. The billions of years of our history is written more in the layers of rocks under our feet than in webpages or book pages. The Natural Sciences Museum allows visitors to have a personal experience with these creatures from the ancient past: the opportunity to touch a organism from before the age of dinosaurs, take a tour through time from the beginning to today, or hew a fossil from its stony tomb. Take a journey with us to the distant past without leaving our museum.
       

However, we need your continued support to do this. Museum scientists and professionals do work that benefits everyone expecting nothing in return, and that is what we largely receive. The makers of dinosaur toys and movies do not give back to the discoverers and carers of these creatures. How can you help? Give of yourself. The most valuable thing we have is time, and so we ask you volunteer with us, guiding our time tours, cataloguing our specimens, and preparing fossils from the rock. But what can help us grow is funding for our research, and so consider us for your charitable donations or estate planning, and then visit us to see the wonder you helped bring to others.
